May 21, 2018 – Legislative Digest

Hi, Neighbors. We had an Aleppo Legislative Meeting last week and I wanted to tell you what happened.

Here’s what happened:

  • We continued the Conditional Use Hearing concerning Masonic Village’s request to build additional villas on its campus. (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting.) #MasonicVillage #Villas
  • We discussed our township’s participation in an update of the “Aleppo, Sewickley, Osborne” joint comprehensive plan and voted (5-0) to participate in this update and pay one third of the final bill, not to exceed $12,000 without additional approval.   • Our new police chief gave us his first report, including responses to calls about fraud, a vehicle on Merriman Road, and littering on Duff Road. This report also included the results of a traffic study on McCoy Place Road, which found that only 0.31% of the vehicles clocked over a 7-day period could have been cited for speeding.   • We heard what our Public Works Crews have been doing, now that it finally stopped snowing! (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting.) #PublicWorks
  • Our Township Engineer discussed our summer road paving projects and we voted (5-0) to award the base bid contract for the paving of Sewickley Heights Drive to Mele & Mele & Sons. (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting.) #Engineering #Paving #Roads
  • We heard how much money we have collected in taxes and how much money we have in the bank. (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting.) #Treasurer
  • We voted (4-1) to appoint Glenn Baggley to the Aleppo Township Authority Board to compete the balance of a term ending 31 December 2019. (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting.) #Authority
  • I told everybody that new QVCOG bylaws went into effect on 19 May 2018 and our next recycling event will be held on 30 June 2018 at the Quaker Valley High School (as always, I note that Aleppo’s contract with Waste Management provides for free curbside pickup of many of the items you can drop off at the recycling eventclick here fore details of At Your Door Special Collection–but if a drop-off event is what you want, click here for details of the Hard to Recycle Collection.) (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting.) #QVCOG
  • We heard from the Ambulance Authority that they expect to move to the new 911 dispatch center by the end of the year. (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting.) #Ambulance
