Hi, Neighbors. We had an Aleppo Workshop Meeting on Monday night, and I wanted to tell you what happened. If you want to watch the meeting from the beginning, click here. Otherwise, feel free to click the links below to jump to the portions of the meeting that are of interest to you.

Here’s what happened:

  • Kati Doebler–who, in the interest of full disclosure, is my wife–requested the support of residents in the upcoming election for School Board. (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting.)
  • We discussed the idea of allowing the Sewickley Heights Manor Homes Association to store some of its road salt in our salt shed. We will likely vote on this topic at Monday’s legislative meeting, so please let me know if you have thoughts to contribute. (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting.)
  • We heard that the Sewickley Borough Manager is hopeful that the lot Sewickley owns on Glen Mitchell Road will all be cleared up by Memorial Day. (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting.)
  • I presented the results of our investigation into paperless document management software options and made a recommendation for a vendor that I think we should select. We will likely vote on this topic at Monday’s legislative meeting, so please let me know if you have thoughts to contribute. (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting.)
  • We heard–for the first time–about various property changes proposed by Louis and Michael Trapizona. (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting.)
  • A representative from Solar City delivered a presentation on installing solar panels and encouraged the township to place this technology on its buildings. (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting.)
  • We heard–for the first time–that there might be a future request for a sewer easement near Ingleside and Ferndale. (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting.)
  • Len Kinter added that if we permitted the Sewickley Heights Manor Homes Association to store salt in our shed, it would address a safety issue. (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting.)

Our next Legislative meeting will be on Monday, May 15, 2017 at 7:00 PM at the Township Building. If any of these issues are important to you, please feel free to join us and voice your opinion. If you cannot attend the meeting in person, please feel free to share your thoughts with me by email and I will be sure to convey your feelings to the other commissioners.

As always, thanks for making Aleppo a great place to live.

Best wishes,

Matthew Doebler

Aleppo Township Commissioner
