HI, Neighbors. We had an Aleppo Meeting last week and I wanted to tell you what happened.

Before we get started, let me report on the success of our first Earth Day event.

On Saturday morning, residents, staff, and elected official met to to pick up trash from township roads. We had a great crew and collected a total of 47 bags of trash from Deer Run Road, Rockledge Drive, Sewickley Ridge Circle, and Sewickley Ridge Drive! Click here for more pictures.

On to the digest. Here’s what happened:

  • Bob Ford requested the support of residents in the upcoming election for Magistrate District Judge. (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting.)
  • Chief Miklos told us what the police have been up to, including 2 calls for suspected fraud and one for burnt toast. (Click hereto watch this portion of the meeting.)
  • We voted (4-0) to adopt a resolution adopting our Emergency Operations Plan and Judy Haluka explained the steps we need to take next concerning Emergency Management. (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting.)
  • Our Public Works Supervisor told us what the public works crew has done in the last month. (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting.)
  • I clarified a misstatement from an earlier Meeting Digest and explained why I think that occasionally catching an error proves the utility of our video digest system. (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting.)
  • We voted (4-0) to appoint Lisa Mullen to the Planning Commission. (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting.)
  • We voted (4-0) to indefinitely table any discussion of re-zoning to remove multi-family units from the R-2 zoning district. (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting.)
  • Our Tax Collector and Treasurer gave his reports about how much money we’ve collected and how much we have in the bank  (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting.)
  • We voted (4-0) to appoint Bob Ellsworth to the Aleppo Township Authority. (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting.)
  • Commissioner Williams told us about preliminary plans for Masonic Village to build a Children’s Home in Aleppo. (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting.)
  • We voted (3-1) to participate in the Quaker Valley Council of Governments Recycling Committee. (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting.)
  • We voted (4-0) to defer our conversation regarding the Leetwood Avenue property complaint for one month to give our code enforcement officer the opportunity to compile pictures and draft a letter. (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting.)
  • We voted (4-0) to defer our conversation about the cleanup of Sewickley’s lot on Glen Mitchell Road for one month to determine if Sewickley brought itself into compliance. (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting.)
  • We voted (4-0) to defer our conversation about cars on the driveway of a private business on Glen Mitchell Road for three months to check the status (and to inform the business owner of the deferral). (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting.)
  • We voted (4-0) to send our code enforcement officer back to a lot on Glen Mitchell Road for an update concerning what appears to be trash on that lot. (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting.)
  • We voted (4-0) to defer action concerning the tents on Weber Road for one month to give our code enforcement officer an opportunity to check the status. (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting.)
  • We voted (4-0) to authorize the public works department to post signs as necessary on Weber Road. (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting.)
  • We voted (4-0) to increase our donation to the Sewickley Memorial Day Fund to $250.00. (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting.)
  • We voted (4-0) to authorize Commissioner Williams and Manager Patterson to begin the process of developing a policy regarding contributions to other non-profits. (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting.)
  • We voted (4-0) to adopt a resolution appointing a pension Chief Administrative Officer Resolution. (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting.)
  • We voted (4-0) to indefinitely table any action concerning the deer population. (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting.)
  • We voted (4-0) to permit Highmark to hold a Mobile Healthcare event in our parking lot on June 1, 2017 from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm, contingent on them providing us with certificates of adequate insurance. (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting.)
  • In response to a resident question, I explained which communities make up the Quaker Valley COG. (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting.)
