For Emergencies, Call 911

Hi, Neighbors. I’ve been feeling terribly that it’s taken me so long to bring you the digest of our August Legislative meeting. But better late than never … here’s what happened:

  • We voted (5-0) to adopt an ordinance addressing floodplain regulation. (Click here to watch the video of this segment.)
  • We voted (5-0) to change Masonic Village’s sewer rates to make them equal to other residential rates. (Click here to watch the video of this segment.)
  • We voted (5-0) to accept a bid for road salt for the upcoming winter season. (Click here to watch the video of this segment.)
  • Our Police Chief updated us about what our officers have been up to, including a sick cat, an incident at the SHMHA pool, and a private investigator snooping around on Weber Road. (Click here to watch the video of this segment.)
  • I gave the board fair warning that I would be asking for money to improve our video recording operations. (Click here to watch the video of this segment.)
  • We got an update on several building projects in the township. (Click here to watch the video of this segment.)
  • We heard a presentation from a resident who wanted to consolidate 4 lots into 1 and voted (5-0) to approve that request. (Click here to watch the video of this segment.)
  • Our tax collector told us how much of your money we’ve collected. (Click here to watch the video of this segment.)
  • Our treasurer told us how much money we have in the bank. (Click here to watch the video of this segment.)
  • We heard an update on several issues concerning the Aleppo Township Authority. (Click here to watch the video of this segment.)
  • We learned that the Aleppo Township Authority hired Bankston Engineers as a consultant with KLH to continue on a project-by-project basis only. (Click here to watch the video of this segment.)
  • We voted (5-0) to adopt Commissioner Lisanti’s report about the ATA as a public report. (Click here to watch the video of this segment.)
  • We had a discussion about Sewickley’s proposed sewer fee that you might have read about in The Herald.  (Click here to watch the video of this segment.)
  • We were alerted that the township’s backhoe will need to be replaced in the near future. (Click here to watch the video of this segment.)
  • We heard where we stand on our fall road paving project. (Click here to watch the video of this segment.)
  • We were advised that our engineer has examined the entrance to the SHMHA and determined that it is appropriate width. (Click here to watch the video of this segment.)
  • We voted (5-0) to allow trees to be planted in the back island of Sewickley Heights Drive and to use the township backhoe to assist in planting the trees. (Click here to watch the video of this segment.)
  • We discussed ways to attract businesses to Aleppo Township. (Click here to watch the video of this segment.)
  • We heard of complaints from residents on McCoy Place about cars speeding and discussed how to fix this problem. (Click here to watch the video of this segment.)
  • Anthony Lisanti and John Siefarth swapped roles, so Mr. Siefarth will now serve on the Aleppo Township Authority Board and Mr. Lisanti will serve on the Board Of Commissioners, the position to which he was elected, but could not initially serve because he did not meet the residency requirement. (Click here to watch the video of this segment.)

Our next meeting will be this Monday (9/15) at about 7:00 P.M. In order to accommodate our neighbors at Masonic Village who have trouble attending meetings at the township building, this meeting will be held in the Main Meeting Room at Masonic Village. The meeting, however, remains open to the public and all are encouraged to attend.

In the event that you can’t make the meeting, please feel free to let me know if there are issues that are important to you. I’ll be happy to make sure the commissioners hear your thoughts.

Best wishes,

Matthew Doebler

Aleppo Township Commissioner
