The Aleppo Township Board of Commissioners will be meeting in person in the Township building for their September 21, 2020 Legislative Meeting.  However, to ensure proper social distancing, we will be limiting the number of people in the room at one time.  Anyone attending the meeting must wear a face mask. We encourage residents to submit their comments in advance of the meeting when possible.

We had an Aleppo Workshop Meeting on Monday night, September 14, 2020 and I wanted to tell you what happened.

Here is what happened:

  • The Commissioners discussed the Zoning Ordinance Revision Proposal from HRG (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting).
  • The Commissioners heard about the Weber’s Corner Plan of Lots Revision #2 Subdivision Plan (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting).
  • There is a vacancy on the Zoning Hearing Board now that a long-serving member has retired (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting).
  • Both Fall 2020 offsite meetings, normally held at Masonic Village and the Aleppo Fire Station, have been cancelled due to COVID-19 concerns (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting).

We had an Aleppo Legislative Meeting on Monday night, August 17, 2020 and I wanted to tell you what happened.

Here is what happened:

  • Prior to the beginning of the Legislative Meeting, two Conditional Use Hearings were held regarding applications to develop two commercial parking lots on North Drive in the 79 North Industrial Park. (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting.)
  • The Board voted to approve the two parking lots on North Drive. (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting.)
  • The Board heard a presentation regarding the Parcel B Land Development Application to construct a warehouse building along Deer Run Road in the 79 North Industrial Park Parcel B Land Development.  The Commissioners then voted to approve the Application.   • Auditor Mark Turnley presented the 2019 Audit. (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting.)
  • Sergeant Beck gave the police report for the month of July. (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting.)

Glass Recycling: the traveling Glass Recycling Bin will be in the area for a few more days.  The bin is in the lower lot at Quaker Valley High School through Thursday August 13th.  Click here for more information.

Here is what happened:

  • Before the start of the regular meeting, the Commissioners held a Conditional Use Hearing for the Villas of Glen Minogue land development plan (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting).  The Commissioners then voted to approve the Glen Minogue plan (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting).
  • Ohio Township Police Chief Joe Hanny gave the police report for the month of June (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting).
  • Emergency Management Coordinator Judy Haluka gave the Emergency Management and the Quaker Valley Ambulance Authority (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting).
  • Public Works Supervisor Tim Scott gave his monthly report (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting).
  • Citizen emails were read during the Communications report (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting).
  • Engineer Ben Gilberti presented HRG’s proposal for the upcoming zoning ordinance revision (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting).
  • The Tax Collector/Treasurer reports were read into the record (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting).
  • Commissioner Dan Darragh gave the Aleppo Township Authority report (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting).
  • Vice President Art Williams updated the Board about the QVCOG’s recent trash and recycling forum (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting).
  • The easement agreements for the proposed emergency exit from Sewickley Heights Drive are closer to completion (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting).
  • The Township received a request for flagpole on Sewickley Heights Drive, and this request will be sent to Sewickley Heights Manor Homes Association for comment (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting).
  • The Commissioners voted to contribute $400,000 from the sewer bond account toward the upcoming refinancing of the 2015 sewer bonds. (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting).

We had an Aleppo Legislative Meeting on Monday night, June 15, 2020 and I wanted to tell you what happened.

Here is what happened:

  • Police Chief Hanny gave the police update for the month (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting).
  • Emergency Management Coordinator Judy Haluka updated the Commissioners about the status of the Emergency Operations Center (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting).
  • The Board approved an amendment to the Zoning Ordinance regulating Oil & Gas in the C-2 Commercial Industrial district (Click here to watch the public hearing that was held before the start of the regular meeting).
  • Treasurer Clayton Steup presented his report on May finances (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting).
  • The Board heard a report submitted by Quaker Valley Ambulance Authority representative Mary Carolyn Nash (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting).
  • We discussed the importance of township residents participating in the 2020 Census (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting).
  • The Board approved an Ordinance authorizing the issuance of 2020 Sewer Revenue Bonds as part of the process to refinance the 2015 Sewer Bonds (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting).
