Legislative Digest

Hello Aleppo Residents and Friends –

The final Legislative Meeting of 2021 was held on December 20, 2021.

Here is what happened:

  • The 2022 Real Estate Tax Rate Ordinance and Budget Ordinance were adopted.  There will be no Real Estate Tax increase in Aleppo for 2022 – the millage rate will stay at 3.5 mills.  (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting).
  • Sergeant Beck of the Ohio Township Police Department gave the monthly police report. (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting).
  • Tim Scott gave the Public Works report. (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting).
  • Commissioner Richert explained the policy regarding reading emails at Township Meetings.  If you would like an email to be read at a meeting, please send the email to Township Manager Gwen Patterson (aleppomgr@aleppotownship.com) and specify in the email that you would like it to be read at the meeting. (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting).
  • Tax Collector/Treasurer Clayton Steup gave the reports for the month of November 2021. (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting).
  • The Board adopted a Resolution detailing the terms of a voluntary annual contribution to the sewer budget of the Aleppo Township Authority.   (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting).

Reorganization and Workshop Digest

We had an Aleppo Reorganization and Workshop Meeting on Monday night, January 3, 2022, and I wanted to tell you what happened.

** This meeting served as both the Reorganization Meeting and the Workshop Meeting – there will not be a Workshop Meeting tonight. **

Here is what happened:

  • The Commissioners Elected the President and Vice President of the Board.  (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting).
  • The Board appointed Township Officials, Agencies, and members of various Boards and Commissions. (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting).
  • The first draft of the revised Zoning Ordinance will be presented at the Legislative Meeting on January 17, 2022. (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting).
  • The Township received a request for an ordinance restricting parking on roads in high density housing areas. (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting).
  • President Jones received a request to sign a letter requesting that the Quaker Valley School District remain in one legislative district during the ongoing PA House redistricting. (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting).

Workshop Digest

Hello Aleppo Residents and Friends –

We have several announcements about upcoming events:

  • The Aleppo Township Volunteer Fire Company is hosting a Blood Drive tomorrow, December 21st, from 2:00-7:00 PM. Call 412-209-7000 or go to https://donateblood.centralbloodbank.org to register through the vitalant registration system.
  • The Township offices will be closed on the following days for the holidays: Thursday December 23rd, Friday December 24th, Thursday December 30th, and Friday December 31st.
  • The Annual Christmas Tree Recycling will be on Monday, January 3, 2022.  Please have your trees at the curb by 8:00 AM.  Aleppo residents will receive a red postcard in the mail with the collection details.

We had an Aleppo Workshop Meeting on Monday night, December 13, 2021, and I wanted to tell you what happened.

Here is what happened:

  • The 2022 Budget and Millage Ordinances were discussed and will be voted on at the December Legislative Meeting.  There will not be a township property tax millage increase in 2022. (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting).
  • The Commissioners approved the purchase of a new lawn tractor for the Public Works Department. (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting).
  • A Resolution outlining the terms for an annual contribution to the Aleppo Township Authority sewer budget was discussed and will be voted on at the December Legislative Meeting. (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting).
  • An Ordinance to set weight limits on Weber Road, Ferndale Avenue, Weber Road Ext., Sycamore Road Ext., and Ingleside Avenue was introduced.  This will be further explored in January 2022. (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting).
  • The January 2022 Reorganization Meeting and Workshop Meeting will be combined on January 3, 2022 (the normal Workshop meeting will not be held on January 10th.) (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting).
