Hello Aleppo Residents and Friends –

We had an Aleppo Workshop Meeting on Monday night, January 9, 2023, and I wanted to tell you what happened.

Here is what happened:

  • The proposed Ordinance Prohibiting the Feeding of Deer will be on the agenda for approval at the January Legislative Meeting. (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting).
  • Appointments to Boards and Commissions will be made at the January Legislative Meeting. (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting).
  • There is a vacancy on the Planning Commission.  Please contact the Township office for details on the position.  (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting).
  • There will be an opening on the Aleppo Township Authority Board sometime in the next few months as one member plans to retire from the Board.  If interested, please contact either the Township or the Authority for information about the Authority Board position. (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting).
  • The Public Works department was authorized to place an order for a new dump truck, plow, and spreader.  This new truck will replace the Township’s existing 2006 dump truck. (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting).
  • Christmas Tree Recycling was held on Monday January 9th.   (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting).

Hello Aleppo Residents and Friends –

We had an Aleppo Legislative Meeting on Monday night, December 19, 2022, and I wanted to tell you what happened.

* REMINDER: The Christmas Tree Recycling will take place this Monday January 9, 2023 – please have your trees to the curb by Monday morning at 8:00 AM.  Please be sure to remove all decorations. *

Here is what happened:

  • Ordinances adopting the 2023 Real Estate Tax Rate and the 2023 Budget were approved.  The Aleppo Township millage rate for 2023 will remain at 3.5 mills. (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting).
  • Sergeant Adam Beck of the Ohio Township Police Department gave the police report for the month of November. (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting).
  • Aleppo Township Volunteer Fire Company Chief Bill Davis, Jr. gave an overview of their 148 calls in 2022 and gave an update on the status of new truck purchases. (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting).
  • The Amazon Canopy Land Development Plan was approved.  The plan calls for the construction of a structural canopy, intended to shield drivers and packages from the weather, over an existing parking lot at the Amazon warehouse on North Drive. (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting).
  • Tax Collector/Treasurer Clayton Steup gave his reports for the month of November.  (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting).
  • The monthly bill list and several real estate tax exonerations were approved, and funds were transferred to cover the purchase of road salt.  (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting).

  • For the safety and efficiency of snow plowing operations, we request that people refrain from parking vehicles along roads in the Township during snow events. (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting).

Here is what happened:

  • The 2023 Budget Ordinance and 2023 Millage Ordinance will be approved at the December Legislative meeting. (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting).
  • PennDOT’s Redgate Road Traffic Study is complete, and they have placed a 40 foot length limit on trucks traveling on Redgate.  (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting).
  • The Township has budgeted money for increased police monitoring of speed on Redgate Road and other roads in the Township. (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting).
  • A draft of an ordinance prohibiting the feeding of deer was presented.  This will be on the agenda for adoption in January 2023.  (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting).
  • The 2023 Meeting Dates have been set and can be found on the calendar on the Township website. (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting).
  • Aleppo qualified for another 5-year waiver from the state MS4 (stormwater monitoring) Program requirements.  (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting).
  • The Amazon Canopy Land Development Application is tentatively scheduled to be on the agenda for approval at the December Legislative meeting. (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting).
  • Holiday Office Closures: the Township and Authority offices will be closed on December 23, 26, 30, and January 2. (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting).

Here is what happened:

  • The Act 57 ordinance regarding real estate tax penalty regulations was adopted. (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting).
  • Ohio Township Police Chief Hanny gave the police report for the month of October.  (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting).
  • The Board approved a proposal from HRG Engineers to update the Subdivision and Land Development Ordinance at a cost of $14,160. (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting).
  • Tax Collector/Treasurer Clayton Steup summarized the reports for the month of October, and he presented an overview of the finances for 2022 and a look forward at 2023. (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting).
  • The 2023 Budget Draft was presented to the Commissioners.  The millage rate will remain at 3.5 mills for 2023 (no increase). (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting).
  • Commissioner Darragh reported that the Aleppo Township Authority is studying a potential sewer connection for Fern Hollow Nature Center. (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting).
  • Commissioner Haluka reported that the Quaker Valley Ambulance Authority’s 50th Anniversary celebration was a success. (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting).
  • The Board authorized sending a letter to Representative Gaydos encouraging the legislature to allow municipal websites to serve as legal advertising locations. (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting).
  • Solicitor Stone was authorized to draft an ordinance prohibiting the feeding of deer within the Township. (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting).
  • It was reported that the outdoor cat population at Masonic has decreased.  (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting).
