We had an Aleppo Legislative Meeting on Monday night, February 15, 2021 and I wanted to tell you what happened.

Here is what happened:

  • Police Chief Hanny gave the police report for the month. (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting).
  • Emergency Management Coordinator Judy Haluka gave an update on vaccinations in the area. (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting).
  • The Public Works report was presented to the Board. (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting).
  • The Commissioners heard an update about revised plans for a lot in the Industrial Park, and Solicitor Stone gave an update about a developer’s plans for homes proposed to be built in Glen Osborne on land that abuts Aleppo Township.  (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting).
  • Tax Collector/Treasurer Clayton Steup gave his report to the Board for the month of January 2021. (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting).
  • There were some changes to the Aleppo Township Authority Board: Commissioner Daniel Darragh resigned from the Authority Board, and two new members were appointed.  Commissioner Darragh will stay on as a liaison between the Boards. (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting).
  • Commissioner Darragh gave an update on a preliminary joint feasibility study to explore the possibility of extending sewers to portions of Glenfield Borough, Sewickley Hills Borough, and the Glenfield Road and Ferry Road sections of Aleppo.  (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting).
  • Quaker Valley Ambulance Authority is participating in a new program to allow emergency responders to leave Narcan behind in situations where overdoses are a risk.  (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting).

We had an Aleppo Workshop Meeting on Monday night, February 8, 2021 and I wanted to tell you what happened.

Here is what happened:

  • Two candidates interested in filling the vacancy on Aleppo Township Authority Board introduced themselves the Commissioners (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting).
  • The Board requested some additional information from the engineers regarding the Road Weight Limit Study Proposal (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting).
  • The Zoning Ordinance Update process was explained (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting).
  • Commissioners discussed the new state guidelines for commissioner stipends (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting).
  • A question about fence regulations and code enforcement was addressed (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting).

Here is what happened:

  • Chief Hanny gave the Police Report (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting).

  • The Board heard what the Public Works department has been working on (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting).
  • The Aleppo-Sewickley-Glen Osborne (ASO) Joint Comprehensive Plan update was adopted, and the Board approved a proposal from HRG to begin the Zoning Ordinance update (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting).
  • Tax Collector/Treasurer Clayton Steup gave the financial reports for the month of December 2020 (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting).
  • Commissioner Dan Darragh reported on the status of the Aleppo Township Authority sewer budget (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting).
  • A Weight Limit Study proposal for the Weber Road neighborhood roads was discussed (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting).

We had an Aleppo Workshop Meeting on Monday night, January 11, 2021 and I wanted to tell you what happened.

Here is what happened:

  • The Commissioners will vote on the ASO Joint Comprehensive Plan Adoption Resolution at the January Legislative Meeting. (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting.)
  • The Zoning Ordinance Revision Proposal from HRG Engineering is also scheduled for a vote at the January Legislative Meeting agenda. (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting.)
  • Vacancy on Aleppo Township Authority Board: Len Kinter, longtime Aleppo resident and member of the Aleppo Township Authority Board, has passed away.  The Commissioners are seeking letters of interest from residents and/or customers of the Authority to finish out the remainder of the term (ending 12/31/2022).  Please send your letters of interest to the attention of Gwen Patterson at the Township office.   • Aleppo is working with our QVCOG partners on a new 5-year Trash/Recycling contract. (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting.)
  • The Aleppo Township Authority has adopted their 2021 Water Budget, and no water rate increase is proposed.  They are still working on their 2021 Sewer Budget. (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting).
