Hi, Neighbors. We had an Aleppo Legislative Meeting on Monday night and I wanted to tell you what happened.

It was a pretty succinct meeting with straightforward votes. If you want to watch the meeting from the beginning, click here. Otherwise, feel free to click the links below to jump to the portions of the meeting that are of particular interest to you.

Here’s what happened:

  • Our police chief told us what his department has been doing and we discussed a resident complaint of speeding on McCoy Place Road. (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting). #McCoyPlaceRoad
  • The Township Manager updated us about the activity of the public works crew, emphasizing all the work they’ve been doing to plow and salt our roads. (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting). #PublicWorks
  • I read several emails from residents, including questions about the proposed Masonic Village Children’s Home, concerns about the sewer rate increases, and compliments about our road crew’s snow removal efforts. (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting). #MasonicVillage #ChildrensHome
  • We heard how much we’ve collected in taxes and how much money we have in the bank. (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting). #TaxCollector
  • The Township Manager told us that we are considering renting a Vactor truck to vacuum out our storm sewer inlets. (If you’ve never heard of a Vactor truck, don’t feel bad!–I had to look it up, too.) (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting). #Sewer
  • We got a report on the success of our Christmas Tree Recycling program. All told, we picked up 68 trees and delivered them to the county to be turned into mulch! (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting and check out the picture below of our haul). #ChristmasTreeRecycling
  • We voted (5-0) to withdraw Main Motion #1 and Main Motion #3 concerning the proposed Masonic Village Children’s Home. That means that–as of now–there are no motions pending regarding the Children’s Home. (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting). #MasonicVillage #ChildrensHome
  • We voted (5-0) to adopt the township’s 2018 Goals. (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting and click here to see our list of goals). #Goals
  • We voted (5-0) to ratify a contract with Sewickley for sewer service. (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting). #Sewer
  • We voted (5-0) to adopt new sewer rates. (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting). #SewerRates
  • We discussed the possibility of buying an app called Savvy Citizen. (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting). #SavvyCitizen
  • We heard about a new proposal with respect to the Trapizona subdivision plan and agreed to discuss it further at another meeting. (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting). #TrapizonaSubdivision

Our next Workshop meeting will be on Monday 12 February 2018 at 7:00 PM. If any of these issues are important to you, please feel free to join us. If you cannot attend the meeting in person, please feel free to share your thoughts with me by email and I will be sure to convey your feelings to the other commissioners.

As always, thanks for making Aleppo a great place to live.

Best wishes,

Matthew Doebler

Aleppo Township Commissioner
