Hi, Neighbors. We had an Aleppo Legislative Meeting in January and I wanted to tell you what happened.

If you want to watch the meeting from the beginning click here.  Otherwise, feel free to click the links below to jump to the portions of the meeting that are of particular interest to you.

Here’s what happened:

  • We listened to the candidates applying for the vacant Commissioner position. Three of the four candidates applying were able to attend the meeting. We are fortunate to have so many talented residents interested in participating in local government. (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting.)
  • Chief Miklos gave us his monthly report on the police presence in Aleppo. (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting.)
  • Our Public Works Director told us what they have been up to, including working hard to keep our roads safe in the face of the winter weather. (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting.)
  • Our Township Manager reported on Planning & Zoning, presented the Tax Collector report, and presented the Treasurer report. (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting.)
  • Manager Patterson explained the condemnation reviews by the County Board of Viewers. Our solicitor also explained the process to close the remaining condemnation cases. (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting.)
  • Solicitor Stone reported on the process to vacate Hibala Road. (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting.)
  • We voted (4-0) to appoint Clayton Steup as the new Treasurer/Tax Collector for Aleppo Township. Thank you, Clayton! (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting.)

We also had a brief Special Meeting on Monday, January 25, 2016 to appoint one of the candidates as our new Commissioner. During that meeting, we voted (4-0) to appoint Dan Darragh to fill the vacancy caused by the death of Tony Lisanti. Welcome to the board, Dan.

Our next Workshop meeting will be tonight at 7:00 PM at the Township Building. If any of these issues are important to you, please feel free to join us and voice your opinion. If you cannot attend the meeting in person, please feel free to share your thoughts with me by email and I will be sure to convey your feelings to the other commissioners.

As always, thanks for making Aleppo a great place to live.

Best wishes,

Matthew Doebler

Aleppo Township Commissioner
