Hello Aleppo Residents and Friends –

As most of you know, Commissioner Matthew Doebler had to resign his seat on the Board of Commissioners because he moved out of Aleppo Township.  He is a tough act to follow, but we intend to do our best to keep up with his communication initiatives, including these email digests. This digest is longer, as it combines both the July Workshop meeting and the July Legislative meeting.

First, the July 8, 2019 Aleppo Workshop Meeting:

Here’s what happened:

  • Aleppo Resident Amy Richert, who has submitted a letter of interest for the open seat on the Board, introduced herself to the Commissioners.  (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting.) #Vacancy #Commissioners
  • The Commissioners learned that the Verizon Franchise Agreement Ordinance will be on the agenda for adoption at the August 19, 2019 Legislative Meeting.  (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting.) #Verizon

Here’s what happened:

  • We heard an update from the Police Chief about their actions in Aleppo. (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting.) #Police
  • We heard from the Public Works Director about what the road crews have been working on. (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting.) #PublicWorks
  • The Board voted (4-0) to authorize the township engineer to prepare a formal proposal for a stabilization study on Rhodes Avenue; voted (4-0) to direct HRG to revise a plan using line painting to address traffic calming on McCoy and Weber Roads; and voted (4-0) to authorize the solicitor and engineer to investigate property access issues regarding a possible emergency exit from Sewickley Heights Manor. (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting.) #HRG #RhodesAvenue #SewickleyHeightsManor
  • The Board voted (4-0) to appoint Braden Blosser to the Zoning Hearing Board to complete a term ending December 31, 2020. (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting.) #ZoningHearingBoard
  • The Tax Collector/Treasurer gave updates about how much tax revenue was received in June and the end of June bank balances. (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting.) #TaxCollector

  • During Citizen Participation, State Representative Valerie Gaydos offered her assistance to Aleppo; a resident discussed drainage in his yard; and a resident discussed a recent road closure due to downed wires. (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting.) #CitizenParticipation
