Road Update:  PennDOT is scheduled to tar/oil & chip Merriman Road and Ferry Road on Friday August 12th.  This may continue into the weekend.  Please use caution on fresh tar/oil & chipped roads as there tends to be loose gravel for several days.

Raccoon Rabies-Prevention Baiting Program:  the annual PA program that places raccoon rabies bait packets in the area will be from July 25 – August 31 of this year.  You may see low flying helicopters or planes over your neighborhoods as the bait packets are dropped.  Click here for more information about the program.




Zoning Ordinance and Map Update

For the past year, the Township has been working to revise and update the Zoning Ordinance and Zoning Map.  The Public Hearing for the ordinance was held on June 20, 2022 at 7:00 PM in the Township Building.  The ordinance is scheduled to be adopted at the August 15, 2022 Legislative Meeting.

Act 537 Sewage Facilities Plan Amendment

Notice is hereby given that Aleppo Township, 100 North Drive, Sewickley, PA 15143 (412-741-6555) intends to adopt an Act 537 Sewage Facilities Plan Amendment. Aleppo Township will adopt the 2022 Act 537 Plan Amendment by resolution and submit the Plan Amendment to the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection for final approval.  The 2022 Act 537 Plan Amendment assesses the sewerage needs of Aleppo Township and finalizes the 2013 Act 537 Plan Amendment. In 2013, Aleppo Township completed the construction of the Area-Wide Sanitary Sewer System Expansion Project which consisted of the installation of approximately 39,705 linear feet of PVC gravity and force main sewer systems and appurtenances and the construction of two sewage pump stations conveying wastewater flows from the tributary area to the Borough of Sewickley Wastewater Treatment Plant. This project also included the decommissioning of two wastewater treatment plants. The total cost of this project was 7.94 million dollars.  Persons desiring additional information concerning the 2022 Act 537 Plan Amendment should contact Aleppo Township within the 30-day comment period ending June 16, 2022. The 2022 Act 537 Plan Amendment will be available for review by Township residents at the Township Building, located as indicated above, between 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday. Aleppo Township will address any comments before adopting the Act 537 Plan Amendment.




Earth Day 2022 Cleanup Event 

Aleppo’s annual Earth Day Roadside Cleanup Event was held on Saturday, April 23, 2022.  The weather was great, and the day was a success.  Thanks to all who turned out to help!








Glass Recycling has arrived in the Quaker Valley!

The Quaker Valley Council of Governments (QVCOG) has found a permanent local location for glass recycling that is open to all QVCOG communities – this includes Aleppo residents.  The glass dumpster will be located in Sewickley Borough’s Riverfront Park at 300 Chadwick Street, Sewickley, PA 15143 beginning Saturday, March 12, 2022.  Please click here for location information: Glass Recycling Announcement 2022 and click here for the glass recycling rules: Glass Recycling Rules 2022.
