Hi, neighbors. We had a legislative meeting last week and I wanted to let you know what happened.
It was an eventful meeting with lots of positive decisions being made for the future of Aleppo. We took the first steps towards saving money by refinancing the sewer bond, approved an investment strategy, and hired a new municipal engineer. The monotony of some of what you’ll see below should not overshadow the fact that this is big stuff!
OK, that said, here’s what happened:
- We voted (4-0) to approve Vesuvius USA’s Conditional Use and Land Development Application necessary for it to adapt the property on Deer Run Road to its needs–welcome to Aleppo, Vesuvius! (Click here to view this portion of the meeting.)
- We voted (4-0) to terminate KLH as our municipal engineer and hired Herbert, Rowland & Grubic to replace them. (Click here to view this portion of the meeting.)
- Our Police Chief told us what the police department has been up to. (Click here to view this portion of the meeting.)
- We learned about the activities of our public works department and heard that Ohio Township was a very good neighbor to us when we needed extra salt–thanks, Ohio Township! (Click here to view this portion of the meeting.)
- There was a discussion about no longer video recording the workshop meetings, which would mean these digests would also be discontinued. (Click here to view this portion of the meeting.)
- We heard how much revenue we have generated and how much money we have in the bank. (Click here to view this portion of the meeting.)
- We voted (4-0) to engage Public Financial Management as the township’s independent financial advisor in conjunction with refinancing the sewer bonds. (Click here to view this portion of the meeting.)

- We discussed selection of bond counsel for the sewer bond refinancing project. (Click here to view this portion of the meeting.)
- We heard that some of the folks who attend our meetings in person are having a hard time hearing what is being said. (Click here to view this portion of the meeting.)
Our next meeting will be on April 13, 2015 at 7:00 PM. If you have anything to add about any of these topics, please feel free to join us. If you cannot make the meeting in person, feel free to share your thoughts about these subjects with me by email and I will be sure to let the other commissioners know how you feel. And–of course–if there is anything we can do to make your life in Aleppo better, please call or write.
Thanks!
Best wishes,
Matthew Doebler
Aleppo Township Commissioner
