Hi, Neighbors. We had an Aleppo Legislative Meeting last week and I wanted to tell you what happened.

It was a long one and we covered lots of ground. We were experiencing technical difficulties, portions of this video have audio problems.

Here’s what happened:

  • Chief Miklos reported on the police presence in Aleppo. (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting.)
  • Tom Jarvie told us about the Public Works department’s activity for the month. (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting.)
  • Commissioner Williams told us what happened at the recent QVCOG meeting, including a discussion about a new Project Ideation team, which is designed to field suggestions and vendor proposals for QVCOG projects. (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting.)
  • We talked about the various recycling events the QVCOG would be affiliated with throughout the year, although I reminded everybody that everything you can recycle at an event can also be picked up through our existing contract with Waste Management At Your Door. (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting.   • We heard from Rich Zahrobsky, an applicant for the Planning Commission opening and voted (4-0) to postpone filling that vacancy for one month. (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting.)
  • We voted (4-0) to discontinue the process of investigating whether we would become a Live Well Allegheny Community. (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting.)
  • We heard that our code enforcement officer is working with the sister of the property owner we have received complaints about on Leetwood Avenue and voted (4-0) to defer this topic for one month to give that process time to work out. (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting.)
  • We discussed the cleanup of Sewickley’s lot on Glen Mitchell Road and voted (4-0) to authorize our Code Enforcement Officer send a violation letter to Sewickley. (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting.)
  • We heard our Code Enforcement Officer’s report about the complained of tents on Weber Road and voted (4-0) to wait one month to see if he could arrange voluntary compliance. (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting.)
  • Our solicitor told us about potential legal problems with the proposed sale of road salt to the Sewickley Manor Homes Association and we voted (4-0) not to accept their offer. (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting.)
  • We discussed the SWOT Analysis and voted (4-0) to consider the report final. (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting.)
  • Manager Patterson laid out a new structure for the township pensions and we voted (4-0) to accept the proposal. (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting.)
  • We discussed our Aleppo Township Earth Day 2017 Activity, which will be on April 22 at 9:00 AM at the Township Building and will be a combination of community building and trash pick up–please plan to join us! (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting.   • I gave a brief update on the progress of our goals for 2017 (we have completed 3 of our 8 goals!) (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting.)
  • We discussed updating the Aleppo Township website and we voted (4-0) to approve a contract for a new website design. (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting.)

  • We voted (4-0) to change the March Legislative meeting to the 3rd Thursday of March to avoid a conflict with the Sewickley Heights Manor Homes Association’s Annual Meeting. (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting.)
