Hi, Neighbors. We had an Aleppo Workshop Meeting on Monday night and I wanted to tell you what happened.
If you’re a stickler for completeness and you want to watch the meeting from the beginning, click here. Otherwise, feel free to click the links below to jump to the portions of the meeting that are of particular interest to you.
Here’s what happened:
- In sad news, we learned that our Township Manager’s father died. Our thoughts are with Gwen and her family as they grieve.
- We discussed the maintenance of the islands on Sewickley Heights Drive in the Sewickley Heights Manor and heard about a plan to shrink some of them to allow more room for trucks to maneuver. This plan is expected to be presented for a approval at our legislative meeting next Monday, so if you have feelings about these islands, please view this portion of the meeting and then share your thoughts with me by replying to this email. (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting.)
- We discussed a request for a contribution to Osborne Elementary School’s Odyssey of the Mind team and decided that while a noble cause, it was an appropriate use of taxpayer dollars. (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting.) (One citizen in the audience, however, made a generous cash donation!)
- We voted (5-0) to approve using $40,847.85 from the sewer bond proceeds to pay for elements of the eminent domain proceedings and to pay for insurance on grinder pumps. (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting.
Finally, this was not covered at the meeting, but we received a brochure from West View Water Authority, who is the township’s municipal water supplier, explaining why they will be raising our water rate. The brochure includes figures for other municipal water suppliers and purports to establish that even with a rate increase, West View remains one of the less expensive suppliers in the state. Click here to read this brochure.
Our next meeting will be on Monday, May 18 at 7:00 PM at the Township Building. If any of these issues are important to you, please feel free to join us and voice your opinion. If you cannot attend the meeting in person, please feel free to share your thoughts with me by email and I will be sure to convey your feelings to the other commissioners.
As always, thanks for making Aleppo a great place to live.
Best wishes,
Matthew Doebler
Aleppo Township Commissioner
