Hi, Neighbors. We had an Aleppo Legislative Meeting a couple of weeks back and I wanted to tell you what happened.

Here’s what happened:

  • We were scheduled to hold a Conditional Use Hearing, but the applications were withdrawn. (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting.)
  • Our police chief told us what the police have been up to in Aleppo, including reports of an individual who was doing target practice with a firearm. (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting.)
  • Our fire chief told us that the fire whistle has been programed for emergency management purposes, updated us about the calls they have handled, and prepared us for news that they would need to purchase new equipment in the next few years. (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting.)
  • We voted (4-0) to adopt the Act 172 Local Tax Credits for Firefighters and EMS Volunteers Ordinance. (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting.)
  • We heard what our Public Works crews have been doing. (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting.)
  • I conveyed an experience I had at the Pittsburgh Botanic Gardens and encouraged residents to make use of this asset to our community. (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting.)
  • Our Tax Collector and Treasurer told us how much we’ve collected in taxes and how much money we have in the bank. (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting.)

  • We heard that the design of sewer pump house is not durable enough and that the Authority will be evaluating changes. (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting.)
  • We heard about a very good turnout at the Quaker Valley COG’s eWaste collection at their 23 September event. (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting and click here to learn about year-round collection of eWaste in Aleppo Township at no cost to you.)
  • With respect to the Ambulance Authority, we heard about their number of calls, that they approved a cost of $85,000 for a remounted ambulance, and that their annual fund drive is underway. (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting.)
  • Our Solicitor agreed to draft a social media use policy for us. (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting.)
  • I reported about a court appearance concerning the abandoned vehicle issue on Weber Road. (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting.)
  • Similarly, we voted (4-0) to authorize our solicitor to draft a new abandoned vehicle ordinance to increase the fine to a maximum of $1,000. (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting.)

Our next Workshop meeting will be on Monday 13 November 2017 at 7:00 PM.
