Local municipalities are now required to follow the requirements of a Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection program called “Municipal Separate Storm Sewer”, or MS4 for short. Among other things, MS4 requires municipalities to conduct regular maintenance on the parts that make up the storm sewer, educate residents about caring for the storm sewer, and document potential problems. Although Aleppo has been granted a waiver of the MS4 requirements until 2022, we do all love clean water and respect steps taken by the state to move us closer to the ultimate goal of improving the quality of our rivers.
At a recent meeting, our township engineer made a presentation explaining what MS4 is, what we need to do to comply, and where we are in the process. If you have any questions about stormwater, watching this presentation would be a good place to start! Click here to watch this video.
If you have a concern or complaint about pollution or stormwater in Aleppo please use our stormwater complaint form.
