Hi, Neighbors. We had an Aleppo Workshop Meeting on Monday night and I wanted to tell you what happened.
Before I get into the bullet list, let me plug an upcoming event. We will be holding our Third Annual Earth Day event on Saturday, April 27 at 9:00 AM. Over the past two years, this event has been growing bigger and bigger. Last year, we had 22 participants and collected 45 bags of trash, 20 tires, and 1 car battery. This is great for our community and it’s great for our planet. This year, we’ll gather for coffee and donuts in the Township Building, where we’ll have a brief educational component discussing changes to the recycling industry (with an emphasis on the changes in glass recycling). Then, we’ll hit the streets. We will–literally!–be cleaning up your neighborhood. So please join us … it’s a fun community event and it’s a great way to improve the place where you live. - A motion was proposed to “authorize our solicitor to draft an amendment to our fracking ordnance to include seismic survey, injection well, and use table default for unlisted uses using the Belle Acres ordinances for reference.” We will be voting on this issue at our next meeting, so if you have thoughts to share on this issue, please send them to me by email. Here’s what happened:
- We continued and concluded Masonic Village’s Conditional Use Hearing concerning its plans to build additional villas. The hearing culminated in a trio of motions, all of which we voted (5-0) to approve. All of the motions required Masonic Village to comply with written conditions. - Our police chief told us about police activity in the township, including a resurgence of the popular “Grandmother Scam”, which he suggested everyone know how to recognize. - Our Township Engineer updated us on the progress of the summer’s road paving projects, including the hope that the paving of Sewickley Heights Drive in The Manor would take place sometime in mid-July and would last for about a week to 10 days. - I read several emails from residents, including a note in support of renewing our contract with the Ohio Township Police Department and one expressing concern about the possibility of an Amazon facility moving into the old FedEx building. - Our Treasurer told us how much money we have collected in taxes and how much we have in the bank. (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting.) #TaxCollector

- However, I also reminded residents that many of the items being collected at the COG recycling event can also be picked up for free at your door under our existing contract with Waste Management. It wasn’t a particularly long meeting, but there were a few topics that we discussed that will be up for a vote tomorrow. So please let us know if you have any input on any of these subjects. Here’s what happened:
- We followed up on the conversation we started when our Code Enforcement Officer spoke with us last month (click here to see this portion of the meeting from the February meeting) and did not propose any revisions to the current code enforcement process. - We discussed the draft Social Media Policy and proposed a motion to adopt it. We will be voting on this tomorrow night, so please let us know if you have any thoughts on this topic.
