We had an Aleppo Legislative Meeting on Monday night, February 20, 2023, and I wanted to tell you what happened.

Here is what happened:
- Chief Hanny gave the Police Report for the month of January. (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting). #Police
- Commissioner Richert reported that Amazon will be emptying their cans and dumpsters more frequently in their lots on North Drive. (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting). #Amazon

Here is what happened:
- The 2022 Real Estate Tax Rate Ordinance and Budget Ordinance were adopted. There will be no Real Estate Tax increase in Aleppo for 2022 – the millage rate will stay at 3.5 mills. (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting). #TaxRate #Budget #Ordinance
- Sergeant Beck of the Ohio Township Police Department gave the monthly police report. (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting). #Police
- Commissioner Richert explained the policy regarding reading emails at Township Meetings. Hello Aleppo Residents and Friends –
The Aleppo Township Board of Commissioners will be meeting in person in the Township building for their June 15, 2020 Legislative Meeting. However, to ensure proper social distancing, we will be limiting the number of people in the room at one time. Anyone attending the meeting will need to wear a face mask. We encourage residents to submit their comments in advance of the meeting when possible.
The Board will conduct the public hearing for the Oil & Gas Amendment to the Zoning Ordinance at 7:00 PM before the start of the regular Legislative Meeting.

- Aleppo has a lower than average response to the 2020 Census so far, and we encourage everyone to take 5 minutes to submit their Census forms. (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting). #Census

Here’s what happened:

- I read an email that we received from a resident expressing concern about Masonic Village’s plan to build new villas on its campus. (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting.) #MasonicVillage #Villas
- We heard that at the April Legislative Meeting, we will have several hearings concerning Masonic Village’s application to build villas. - We heard that the Aleppo Township Authority still has not reached an agreement with Culligan concerning the allegations of dumping unapproved substances into our sewer. (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting.) #AleppoTownshipAuthority

- We voted (3-0) to authorize the drafting of an amendment to section 232-2 of our Township ordinance to increase the cost for a license to operate a junk dealer or storage lot to $1,500 annually. (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting.) #Ordinance
- We voted (3-0) to approve the publishing of the township’s new website on 31 March 2018. (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting.) It wasn’t a particularly long meeting, but there were a few topics that we discussed that will be up for a vote tomorrow. So please let us know if you have any input on any of these subjects. Here’s what happened:
- We followed up on the conversation we started when our Code Enforcement Officer spoke with us last month (click here to see this portion of the meeting from the February meeting) and did not propose any revisions to the current code enforcement process. - We discussed the draft Social Media Policy and proposed a motion to adopt it. We will be voting on this tomorrow night, so please let us know if you have any thoughts on this topic.
