We had an Aleppo Legislative Meeting on Monday night, April 15, 2024, and I wanted to tell you what happened.

Here is what happened:

  • Chief Hanny gave the Police Report for the month of March 2024, and reminded residents that people soliciting door-to-door need to have a permit issued by the police (click here to watch this portion of the meeting). #Police

  • Solicitor Stone is finalizing the new fire service contract between the Township and the Aleppo Township Volunteer Fire Company (click here to watch this portion of the meeting). #FireServicesContract
  • Residents were invited to participate in Aleppo’s Earth Day Roadside Cleanup on Saturday, April 20, 2024, at 9:00 a.m. at the Municipal Building (click here to watch this portion of the meeting). #EarthDay

We had an Aleppo Legislative Meeting on Monday night, November 20, 2023, and I wanted to tell you what happened.

Here is what happened:

  • Chief Hanny gave the Police Report for the month of October 2023. (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting). #Police
  • The Commissioners voted to enter into a new 5-year Agreement for fire protection services with the Aleppo Township Volunteer Fire Company and to contribute toward the purchase of a new squad vehicle.   • The Board approved an agreement with the Quaker Valley Council of Governments for zoning officer services. (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting). #ZoningServices

We had an Aleppo Workshop Meeting on Monday night, November 13, 2023, and I wanted to tell you what happened.

  • The draft of the 2024 Budget will be presented to the Commissioners at the November Legislative Meeting. (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting). #Budget

  • The Aleppo Township Volunteer Fire Company has requested to reopen the contract with Aleppo Township, and they are proposing an annual percentage increase from 2% to 4% per year. They are also seeking a contribution toward a new squad vehicle.  The Commissioners will vote on these new contract terms at the November Legislative Meeting.   • Solicitor Harlan Stone updated the Board about two new issues of legislation in Pennsylvania.  The first bill allows municipalities to regulate consumer/personal fireworks displays in the Township, and the second bill (Act 56) will provide some penalty forgiveness for new property owners who were not aware of their property tax obligation in the first year of ownership. (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting). #Legislation
  • A potential donation to Sewickley’s Light Up Night was discussed.  The issue was tabled until October. (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting). #LightUpNight
  • Two recent Redgate Road/River Road truck accidents were discussed.  The Township is working with Haysville and the QVCOG to request that PennDOT evaluate the signage along the state-owned roads in an attempt to deter large trucks from traveling down Redgate Road. (Click here to watch this portion of the meeting). #RedgateRoad #TrucksUsingRedgateRoad
